The Unity FNF' Engine
Back in 2022, me and Rei started working on "Unity Party", a recreation of the game Friday Night Funkin' using the game engine Unity, which turned out to be a hit!
I took care of the design and assets, such as the structure of the bundle and concepts, while Rei just programmed it all (I consider him crazy for it, but it was very fun to see).
The original version, while very messy and unoptimized, especially in the way it's played, was surprisingly good, with a way to import song files from Kade Engine mods of FNF' right into it, and in later versions, allowed people to use the Mod.io service to create their own "bundles", which includes Characters, Scenes, charts and even description, they could easily download them from the game itself, enable and disable them as they wish, and a bundle could contain multiple songs and difficulties for each, it was impressive!
That didn't go unoticed, and after some time, the engine was later used by Rei for a Modjam by request of Aighty, the director, and created the popular FNF': Got Heck'd" fangame. Which recieved a gigantic update in July 2022. The fangame was played by many youtubers on its second version.
Even more recent, "TGR's Ghostly Mayhem", a fangame project I directed for TheGhostReaper's Modjam.
While the development was very messy because I was also in training and lost motivation many times during it, it got finished and even used real-time 3D and lighting for the background, all of the arts and animations (except for the credit art, thanks Vy) were done by me in under a week before the deadline, oops.
We won second place :)
This fangame was made by:
Me (Uni) as director, artist and animator,
Rei as programmer, charter, and creator of Unity Party,
Vy Canis Melodis as musician and artist.
Unity Party was a huge step for us as a team, we learned about making an engine, it was rebuilt multiple times and always improved on, even though we haven't updated it in years, it was still one of our most succesful attempts. Feel free to check it out still, while it is not getting updated, it is still fairly easy to use and manage, and it is open source!
